Andy Powell is the current Corporate Vice President of Metcut Research Inc. He joined the Corporation in 2022 as Technical Director and was promoted to Vice President in 2024.

Prior to joining Metcut, Andy had a 21-year career with GE Aerospace in a series of roles involving material behavior, alloy development, failure analysis and application engineering. Andy led the Materials team for the GE9X engine during the FAR33 certification process and then managed the Surface & Environmental Materials Behavior and Coating team. He earned a BS in Material Science from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana with a minor in Technology & Management and then subsequently earned his MS in Materials Science from the University of Cincinnati thru the GE Edison Engineering Development Program. Andy has published multiple papers in the alloy development space and hold 1 patent.
